...an 8 foot tall Brutus Buckeye in front of our house!---Jenny's birthday gift to me! Brutus (with the OSU flag in the background) was up all day Saturday in anticipation of the Texas game. He'll go away for awhile, but will return for key games later in the year...
Charlie had his first taste of rice cereal tonight. He was interested in it for a bit, but eventually tired. His dad doesn't blame him--it didn't look too appetizing!
Neighborhood pig roast was last night. We all had a great time there, although Alex had to leave early to go to a birthday party. In addition to the food and drinks for both adults and kids (water ice, slushies, a keg of birch beer!), they had a DJ, a clown, a caricturist, and three large inflatable games for kids: a moon bounce, an obstacle course, and the joust.
Alex had his first Titans football game on Saturday. Although his team played hard, they lost a close game 12-6 against the top team in their division. Alex played on the defensive line and helped make a number of plays. The message on Charlie's shirt:
We lost a Bradford pear at the top of our driveway while gone due to remnants of Ernesto--the second one this year (we lost a major branch from one at the bottom of the driveway earlier). The bad news? It fell into the neighbor's driveway (no damage though), and I now have a Labor day (week?!) project. The good news? Time to buy a chainsaw!
Alex having fun at the beach. This was a few days before Ernesto hit, but the water was definitely rougher here than at other beaches we've visited. We all had a great time playing in the water, especially with the boogie boards. Can't wait to go back next year!
