Flying a patriotic kite in celebration of July 4th. The kids each
took a turn flying it. "Pilot error" led to the occassional crashing
of the kite (taking down another person's kite in the process once,
landing on another group's umbrella a different time [Ed. note: This was Megan], and generally
threatening the safety of those around us on several occassions).
Before we could do any serious damage we packed up camp and headed
back to the house for a seafood extravaganza dinner of: mussels,
clams, oysters, shrimp, and fresh fish that we caught the day before.

Teamwork
You can accomplish so much more when you work together with someone!
Shortly after the last picture Ben turned the hose on those taking
these pictures, and that was the end of the kids playing the hose
(until they figured out how to turn it on themselves!)

Vacation at Duck - Days 1 - 3
Our first few days at Duck have been filled with trips to the beach
and pool, relaxing afternoon naps, and card games in the evening.
Seafood has been on the menu several times as well. Alex and Charlie
both really enjoy the beach. Alex has gotten a boogie board and has
been practicing riding the waves in. Charlie enjoys playing in the
surf and with the various sand toys that we have. He loves the feel
of the water and sand on his feet. Ben has been a bit more reluctant
to get into the water, but he is warming up to it every day. Most
importantly, though, nobody has gotten sunburned yet!!!

Gretchen and Joe's Wedding
We were quite busy our first weekend in Duck because of Gretchen and
Joe's wedding, in which Jenny was a bridesmaid. The rehearsal dinner
the night before was a lot of fun, and Alex was able to come and see
his godmother. The wedding itself was very nice. It was held at a
local Presbyterian church in Nags Head. Following the ceremony, we
headed off to the reception and danced the night away with our friends
in celebration!
