O-H-I-O !!!!!!

While Jenny and Alex were enjoying the battleship, Charlie and I hung out at home and watched THE OSU - um game. Jenny, after much thought and consideration (a LOT of thought and consideration went into this...), trusted me with Charlie on this exciting yet stressful night. I put Charlie in the baby carrier and walked/paced around the house for the entire game. We had a great time (once the game was over!) and we screamed/yelled/cheered with every play. Most importantly, Charlie (and Ben and Tommy too!) have never known defeat in their first year of life. We're hoping the streak will continue Jan 8th in Glendale, AZ.

Earlier in the day Alex and I went to the Delaware-Villanova game, both displaying our OSU colors (much to my delight, Alex had his on first thing in the morning, without any parental reminder!) We also put Brutus up in the yard (I needed to keep an eye on him throughout the night due to some misguided um fans in the nieghborhood...) We walked proudly through the Delaware campus and tailgated with neighbors. (Delaware, somewhat ironically, has football uniforms/helmets that are nearly identical to um's.)

The pictures below are of the three Westphal men right before Alex and Jenny left, and of Charlie and I Sun. morning both recovering from the evening before.

Cub Scouts overnight on USS New Jersey

Alex and Jenny (along with a large contingent of the Pack 136 Cub Scouts) spent Saturday night on the USS New Jersey. They arrived around 6pm before getting in the 'chow line' at 7. That was followed by a tour (until 11:30pm!) of the ENTIRE SHIP! Part of the tour included getting to go on the flight simulator (a 4-d experience of the battle of Iwo Jima on a Seahawk plane, and a second one of a simulated Iraq battle). The tour included the Captain's and Admiral's quarters, the control room (think: the movie "The Hunt for Red October"), seeing helicopters, etc. Basically, all over the ship. Jenny and Alex (along with several other people) spent the nights in the Berth's 3-high bunks. The boys were asleep by 12 and up before the bugle call at 6. Breakfast was at 7, and after exploring around some more, they came home. Alex called it awesome, and especially loved the flight simulator.

The Georgiton's Visit - Part 2

More pictures of the visit. Charlie had a great time playing with Peter's glasses!

The Georgiton's Visit Landenberg - Part 1

Pictures of the Georgiton's visit to Landenberg! If you pay close attention to the TV when Alex and Peter are playing Xbox, you'll notice that they're boxing--and Peter is playing as a heavyweight against Alex as a welterweight. Alex, with years of experience playing against Craig, soundly defeated Peter. Several times.

Alex - Halloween Part 2

The Grim Reaper's Assistant (aka Alex) at the Kennett Square parade. Floats, fire trucks, the high school band...small town America at it's best! A very nice parade all-around; the kids got to go trick-or-treating in the local shops before the parade started. As for the Barbaro sign, there is a large vet center in Kennett Square where he has been staying during his treatment (lots of horse farms in the area).

Sadly, the days of Disney character Halloween costumes has now gone to the wayside. We now present to you Alex, the Grim Reaper's Assistant (complete with battle axe!) This is Alex with Charlie before the trick-or-treating started (note the new glass front door!) and after he returned with his spoils of war.

Charlie Halloween Part 2

Charlie at the baby playgroup. Kennett Square also had a Halloween parade, and he went dressed in his teddy bear outfit. We were lucky--it turned out to be a beautiful fall night for the parade!

Charlie - Halloween Part 1

Charlie in (some of)his Halloween outfits. He wore the pumpkin outfit to daycare on Halloween, and the Tigger costume (because he LOVES to BOUNCE!) to greet the trick-or-treaters and also to the neighborhood baby playgroup's party.

Alex Fishing in Somerset Lake

Alex went fishing with the Cub Scouts a few weeks ago...He learned a valuable lesson in patience in the process---he was the last to catch a fish, but he caught the BIGGEST!
