Alex turns 9

After the Christmas and New Years excitement had subsided, we had a grand total of 1 day to relax before Alex turned 9. It was his first day back to school, which he wasn't happy about, but we managed to have a good time. The family picked him up early and headed to the mall to Build-a-Bear workshop as is custom. He picked out a frog to "build" and give life (I still wonder at which step in the process W considers life started, because we almost switched to another animal at the stuffing stage...it could have gotten ugly) We left the mall for a restaurant of Alex's choice--Red Lobster (we're not quite sure who he picked up the love of seafood from...) Birthday ice cream and candles followed, then opening presents at home (He's reading a book he got--The Science of Yuck--this kind of stuff appeals to 9 yr old boys!)
